1. Denzel Ward and Damon Arnette can replace Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore

One of the biggest tasks for Urban Meyer this season will be finding answers as to who can replace Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore in the secondary. Hooker and Lattimore were the heart and soul of the defense last year.

Once again, Ohio State has a young secondary with a lot of talented cornerbacks and safeties to go with. Two players that stepped up in a big way against Indiana were Damon Arnette and Denzel Ward.

Arnette, a redshirt sophomore, and Ward, a junior, are the starting cornerbacks. Ward picked off Richard Lagow once at a key time in the game. Arnette did not get any interceptions, but he was second on the team in tackles, including one tackle for loss.

For Ohio State’s defense to be as good as they were for most of the 2016 campaign, some young guys need to step up. Two of those players are Ward and Arnette. The safeties are set with sophomore Jordan Fuller and senior Damon Webb.
