5. J.T. Barrett will continue to regress

Against the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, quarterback J.T. Barrett laid an egg. Ohio State was shutout by the eventual National Champions 31-0. Barrett and Weber did not have a productive outing.

By the end of the game, Barrett had put together a very solid stat line. He threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns. However, a lot of that was due to the playmaking abilities of Parris Campbell and J.K. Dobbins. Receiver Johnnie Dixon also caught a touchdown pass.

This is Barrett’s final chance to accomplish something huge as the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes. He was out with injury when Ohio State won the National Championship in 2014. They did not make the Playoff in 2015. And they were embarrassed when they did make the Playoff last year.

Overall, Barrett did more than he needed to against Indiana to lead Ohio State to a win. However, a much tougher opponent looms in Week 2 in Oklahoma. And the final five weeks of the regular season are the real gut check time for Ohio State.
