Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier turned things up a notch in the second half as did Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson. Both were able to make big plays with their legs and arm to put their team’s in position to win.
Both teams also had some strong defensive performances as both defenses made big plays in key moments to put their team in perfect position to win. There were a few “tantrums” that drew unsportsmanlike conduct penalties by both coaches, but such is life.
In the end, the Virginia Tech Hokies got the victory behind the legs of Josh Jackson. Their defense was a bit sluggish in the passing game but they did enough to hold off West Virginia in the end.
