Alabama football and Miami have agreed on terms to play in the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Ga.

Winning the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Ga., is nothing new for Nick Saban and Alabama football. In fact, since its inception in 2008, the Crimson Tide are 5-0 in the season-opening game, including a 24-7 drubbing of Florida State this season.

The annual season opener played in Atlanta usually pegs two top teams against each other, and there are future matchups already scheduled. In fact, the Crimson Tide will play Duke in 2019 — although the Blue Devils aren’t exactly an elite opponent.

Which ACC foe will be next up to play the Crimson Tide after the 2019 contest? According to reports, it’ll be the Miami Hurricanes. Stewart Mandel is reporting that Miami and Alabama have agreed on terms to face off in the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

That means Mark Richt will be able to face a familiar SEC foe in Saban’s Crimson Tide. The Miami head coach was at Georgia for over a decade before leaving for Miami. He is now coaching his alma mater, but assuming he’s still in Miami for the 2021 matchup, he’s going to get another crack at Saban.

This will be one of the more interesting opening games as the Hurricanes are currently trending upward as a program and the Crimson Tide are usually the annual preseason No. 1 team.

What are you most looking forward to seeing in this matchup between the two programs? Sure, it’s four years down the line, but the coaching staffs are likely to remain the same.
