One of the greatest parts of the college football season is the speculation surrounding 2018 NFL mock drafts for the following April.

With the conclusion of the No. 25 ranked Tennessee Volunteers beating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, a crazy Week 1 wrapped up. There were more upsets than anticipated and more exciting games than we could handle.

For the first time, we saw transfer quarterbacks Jarrett Stidham and Will Grier in game action with their teams. However, most of the QB’s that we expected to be picked in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft are considered the best.

As time goes along, we’ll see how NFL Draft boards change. For example, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson entered 2016 as the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick. But he ended up going outside the top 10 to the Houston Texas. Former UNC quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was the highest-selected QB in that draft, going No. 2 overall to the Chicago Bears.

Some projected first round picks that were seen in action over the weekend include Wyoming’s Josh Allen vs. Iowa, Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph vs. Tulsa, USC’s Sam Darnold vs. Western Michigan, UCLA’s Josh Rosen vs. Texas A&M, Louisville’s Lamar Jackson vs. Purdue, and Washington State’s Luke Falk vs. Montana State.

Sam Darnold and Josh Allen got off to slow starts. Allen has never played well against Power Five competition which is a worrying sign. Darnold’s struggle are a worrying concern because we really do not know why it took so long for USC to pull away from Western Michigan.

There’s still four months of college football before we can declare the actual favorites to be first round picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, it’s always fun to speculate.

Now, let’s take a look at the three quarterbacks with the best chance to be picked No. 1 overall in next year’s NFL Draft.
