Week 1 of Big Ten football is in the books. Which teams are trending up or down in our Week 2 power rankings?

College football opened in earnest this past weekend and there were some great games across the country. In the Big Ten, things mostly went according to plan but there was some excitement.

The biggest winner of the week has to be the Maryland Terrapins. On the road in Austin and in Tom Herman’s first game as head coach of Texas, the Terps pulled off an upset of the 23rd-ranked Longhorns.

It is only one data point, but the bottom of half of the league may not be as bad as last year. Even in losses, the bottom teams looked stronger than they did a year ago. Was it Week 1 jitters of their opponents or legitimate positive changes for these programs? We should be able to tell in the coming weeks.

This week’s edition of the power rankings features some adjustments based on the week 1 performances, even if some teams won. Perhaps some teams were over ranked or under ranked last week. Feel free to leave a response in the comment section below if you don’t agree.
