1. Jake Fromm replacing injured Jacob Eason

Potentially the biggest reason Notre Dame will ‘upset’ Georgia in South Bend is the fact that the Bulldogs are replacing Jacob Eason. It’s not necessarily that Eason is an All-SEC gunslinger, although he has the talent to be, but rather the fact that Jake Fromm wasn’t expecting to be thrown into the fire this early.

With freshmen quarterbacks, often times learning the playbook takes up to a year, or so. This isn’t high school anymore, you can’t get away with improvising and changing things up whenever you want. For Fromm, it means learning everything possible by the Notre Dame game.

Sure, he’s ahead of most freshmen in terms of readiness, and it showed in his stint against Appalachian State, but entering a hostile environment like Notre Dame for a first start won’t be the friendliest situation. It might be ugly early on.

Fromm has the talent to perform well against the Irish, but if he gets rattled early on, which very well may happen, expect it to snowball into a poor showing. A freshman quarterback in his first start ay Notre Dame? Not ideal.
