College Football Week 2 Schedule: 3 Under-the-Radar Games
3. Western Michigan @ Michigan State
3:30 pm ET, Big Ten Network
The Western Michigan Broncos gave the fourth-ranked USC Trojans all they could handle in Week One despite their 49-31 loss. They should give the Michigan State Spartans a run for their money this week as an under-the-radar opponent.
Bowling Green struck first and lead 3-0 over Michigan State after one quarter of play but the Spartans turned it up in the second and third. They scored all 35 points in the second and third quarters. The Falcons’ touchdown came on a 46-yard fumble return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
The Spartans beat Bowling Green 35-10 in their season opener, but they’re nowhere near as good as Western Michigan. The Broncos have a strong offensive line with a running game to go with it. They lit up the Trojans for 263 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on the road last week.
Michigan State’s defense only gave up 67 rushing yards in Week One but Western Michigan has three solid running backs they have to stop.
Running back LeVante Bellamy led the way out the backfield last week with seven carries for 102 rushing yards. Jamauri Bogan was right behind him with 77 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Jarvion Franklin finished with 40 rushing yards.
Michigan State has won the last 10 meetings with the Broncos so they hold the advantage there and have home field. Their defense needs to be ready to play or it could be a long day for them.
