1. A shootout will put over 100 total points on the scoreboard

With defense in short supply and all of these skill players having breakout days, the Rose Bowl scoreboard is going to get a major workout on Saturday. The Vegas line for total points is hovering between 63 and 64 points for Hawaii’s trip to UCLA. The oddsmakers are likely underestimating the potential for major points to be scored.

Hawaii has averaged 39.5 points through its first two games, while UCLA put up 45 in its season opener. The Bruins, it must also be remembered, allowed 44 points, while UMass was able to score 35 on the Rainbow Warriors.

As a result, we are likely going to see the first game between FBS schools this season to break the century mark for points. Saint Juste and Brown are going to lead an offensive effort by the visitors that should net at least five touchdowns. Meanwhile, UCLA is going to score early and often as Hawaii faces one of its toughest tests of the season.

Ultimately, the scoreboard total is going to break 100 points. Look for somewhere in the neighborhood of 66-38 for the final score on Saturday. UCLA will move to 2-0 as they deal Hawaii its first loss of 2017, but they will do so after things stay far too close for comfort in the first half for Jim Mora’s team.
