UCLA Football: 5 reasons the Bruins will beat Hawaii
UCLA football is coming off a big comeback win over Texas A&M in Week 1 and here’s why the Bruins will beat Hawaii in Week 2.
It was an ugly way to start the season. The UCLA Bruins were down 38-10 at halftime — at home — to Texas A&M in the opener. It seemed like the 4-8 record from the previous season was looming over the Bruins’ heads and Jim Mora’s job was on the line.
After falling behind 44-10 in the third quarter, something clicked. The Bruins came together and looked like a completely different team, putting together an unbelievable comeback. In fact, they ended up scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the final minute, which was the eventual winner.
Texas A&M was sent home with its tail between its legs and the Bruins had new life. Will this positive momentum carry over into Week 2 against an unbeaten Hawaii team?
Let’s take a look at the five reasons why UCLA will win Saturday.
5. Hawaii struggles against Power Five foes
The last five times Hawaii has played a Power Five opponent, it hasn’t worked out in the Rainbow Warriors’ favor. In fact, Hawaii has lost five in a row against Power Five foes and the only win against the Power Five in the past two years was against Colorado in 2015.
Moreover, the Rainbow Warriors have lost 12 of their last 13 games against Power Five programs. Traveling to UCLA won’t be an easy task for this team and it’ll show early on. The Rainbow Warriors will be overmatched in this one and it’d be a surprise to see them within three touchdowns in the second half.
UCLA’s offense is coming together nicely and the defense has seemingly improved. Don’t be surprised if the Rainbow Warriors are blown out by halftime.
