UCLA Football: 5 reasons the Bruins will beat Hawaii
3. Run game will improve
I’ve been saying it for months now, but I truly believe it: UCLA’s run game will improve. The Bruins have one of the most talented running backs in the conference in Soso Jamabo, but he’s never truly gotten a shot to shine.
In fact, after rushing for 403 yards and four touchdowns on 6.1 yards per carry as a freshman, Jamabo’s workload didn’t increase much as a sophomore. He received just 82 carries during his sophomore campaign and finished with only 321 yards and three scores. Whether it was the offensive line’s fault or Jim Mora mismanaging the run game remains to be seen.

Either way, Jamabo can be a star in this offense if utilized correctly. Against Texas A&M, he had only seven carries and piled up 46 yards and a touchdown. Sure, the Bruins were passing all game to play catch-up, but 6.6 yards per touch is nothing to overlook.
Against Hawaii on Saturday, expect Jamabo and Co. to take advantage of a mediocre run defense. He’s going to break 100 yards and make the Rainbow Warriors play catch-up.
