A week after losing to the Liberty Flames, Baylor football was upset again this time at home against UT San Antonio.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Bears got into the redzone first with a 20 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Anu Solomon to wide receiver Denziel Mims. After that, it’s been all Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners got on the board right before the end of the first half with a touchdown pass, tying the game at 7-7 at the break. Coming out of the break, the Roadrunners had a real fast drive, going 78 yards on 3 plays. The drive was capped by a 29 yard touchdown pass by quarterback by Dalton Strum. The Roadrunners would later add a field goal.

It’s been a real rough few years for Baylor. The scandal that rocked the university has been the big story, obviously. However bringing in Rhule from his successful run at Temple was supposed to jump start this team. Last week, they were shocked by FCS Liberty at home and now it’s the Roadrunners’ turn.

Baylor would pull within one score with a fourth quarter field goal. UTSA would take over and ice the game, securing a 17-10 victory in Waco.

The road does not get any easier for Baylor in the coming weeks. They have tough road games at Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and TCU. Plus they’ll host Oklahoma, which probably won’t be pretty.

Starting 0-2 is certainly not what Rhule and the fan base were expecting.  It will be interesting to follow what will happen moving forward with this program. Regardless, this was about as bad as you could have drawn it up for Baylor football in 2017.
