The Ole Miss football program is making a big push for a run in the SEC West in 2018. They defeated UT-Martin this week to stay undefeated.

The Ole Miss Rebels are not bowl eligible in 2017. However, sophomore quarterback is fighting for his future NFL Draft stock and momentum building up for the 2018 college football season. Ole Miss looks good so far.

For Ole Miss, this season is more about recovering from the scandal brought about during former head coach Hugh Freeze’s tenure in Oxford. Current head coach Matt Luke does have an uphill battle in front of him.

This game was actually very close in the first half. UT-Martin gave Ole Miss all they could handle. Patterson helped the Rebels pull away in the second half. An upset at the hands of an FCS opponent wouldn’t look great for Ole Miss right now.

Ole Miss was on upset alert in the first half. The Rebels carried a one-point lead into the break, but a 21-point run in the third quarter allowed Ole Miss to start putting UT-Martin away. They ended up winning by a 22-point margin, 45-23.

Last week, Ole Miss took care of business facing the South Alabama Jaguars. This was their second consecutive victory at home at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, but it did look much easier for Ole Miss against a better South Alabama team in Week 1 than it did in Week 2 against UT-Martin.

Now, let’s take a look at three things we learned from the Ole Miss victory over UT-Martin.
