West Virginia football program notched themselves a convincing win in Week 2 over the East Carolina Pirates from the AAC.

The West Virginia Mountaineers proved how good their offense can be while facing the East Carolina Pirates. While ECU is one of the lower tier teams in the FBS, it was still quite impressive to see what the Mountaineers did in Week 2.

In Week 1, West Virginia was downed by the then No. 21 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies. Freshman quarterback Josh Jackson had a huge game, leading the Hokies to a 31-24 victory. That gave West Virginia the motivation to show what they can do this weekend.

ECU entered halftime down by 46 points. After their Week 1 defeat at the hands of the James Madison Dukes, the Pirates needed a big game this week. However, last week proved to be no fluke as ECU head coach Scottie Montgomery has a lot of work to do or he could be on the hot seat very soon. His team was defeated 56-20.

Duke transfer quarterback Thomas Sirk threw his first touchdown pass as a Pirate in the second half.  He actually threw more interceptions than touchdowns in this one. ECU has some big issues on both sides of the ball they need to fix.

After this matchup, West Virginia has one more non-conference game before they begin their Big 12 slate against the Kansas Jayhawks. Next week, the Mountaineers take on Delaware State out of the FCS.

This is one of the last chances the West Virginia offense had for a tune up. Wide receiver David Sills V had another big game along with running backs Justin Crawford and Kennedy McKoy.

Now, let’s take a look at three things we learned from West Virginia’s victory over ECU.
