Arkansas Football: 5 overreactions from loss to TCU
There’s some disappointment surrounding Arkansas football after its 21-point loss to the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 2.
Head coach Bret Bielema and his Arkansas Razorbacks took the field at Razorback Stadium for the second consecutive week to face the No. 23 ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Last year, Arkansas defeated TCU, in Fort Worth, in double overtime, 41-38.
The story took a different turn this year. TCU controlled the game for the final three quarters to walk away with a 28-7 victory. Not only does Arkansas have a rough schedule ahead, TCU looks for real in the Big 12 in 2017.
This one ultimately came down to which running game could hold up longer. Former Arizona transfer running back David Williams had 10 carries for 65 yards. However, the rest of the Razorback running backs did not fare well.
Arkansas’s starting sophomore running back Devwah Whaley totaled 32 rushing yards on 11 carries. And true freshman Chase Hayden was not able to have the same production that he did in Week 1 against the Florida A&M Rattlers.
The Arkansas receiving corps did not have much of a chance to show what they can do. Jonathan Nance was the only Razorback receiver that was able to do anything. He caught three passes for 75 yards and one touchdown.
TCU has it much easier in their Week 3 game against the SMU Mustangs. The Frogs kickoff their Big 12 slate facing the No. 9 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in two weeks. Arkansas kicks off SEC play two weeks from now.
Now, let’s take a look at five overreactions from Arkansas’s loss to the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 2.
