Arkansas Football: 5 overreactions from loss to TCU
4. Austin Allen will struggle to lead the offense
Arkansas needed senior quarterback Austin Allen to carry the offense against TCU. The Frogs have a playmaker in Kenny Hill as their starting quarterback. Moreover, TCU plays in a conference where they have to put up points to compete.
While TCU continued to put up points in the final three quarters, Allen only completed nine of his 23 passing attempts. A little bit less than half of Allen’s passing yards come on a 49 yard pass to Jonathan Nance.
Star receiver Jared Cornelius has not had much of a role in the offense this year. He only caught one pass for two yards in Week 2. However, injury has limited Cornelius’s effectiveness and playing time so far.
The main focus of the Arkansas offense will need to be Allen. He has the experience to know what he needs to do to at least get the Razorbacks bowl eligible. Yet, he had a chance to establish himself in the national spotlight and did not take care of business.
