The Auburn football team came close to upsetting the reigning national champs, the Clemson Tigers, but came up just short, 14-6.

The No. 17 ranked Auburn Tigers hoped to make a huge push for a spot in the College Football Playoff when they traveled to Clemson, SC, to face the No. 4 Clemson Tigers. However, things did not go as planned for Auburn.

Auburn took the initial lead in the first quarter, before letting Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant lead a 14-point run for an eventual 14-6 win. Both of Clemson’s touchdowns came by way of rushing scores from Bryant.

Even with all the losses at linebacker and in the secondary, Clemson still seems to have one of the best defenses in the country. The biggest storyline from this game was the 11 sacks that Clemson got against Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

Christian Wilkins brought down the quarterback four times and Austin Bryant twice. This is a Clemson defensive line that ranks with the Ohio State Buckeyes as the best in the country. It’s hard to put anyone ahead of Clemson’s right now.

Someone needs to step up in the Auburn receiving corps and along the offensive line soon. The amount of sacks allowed and the fact that they have not had a single receiver go over 85 yards in one game is a problem.

The loss to Clemson did not impact Auburn in the polls too much. They only dropped down four spots. That’s still something they can recover from. If Auburn does win out, they should still earn a berth in the playoff.

Now, let’s take a look at five overreactions from Auburn’s loss to Clemson in Week 2.
