College Football 2017: Ranking the 3 worst losses from Week 2

Week 2 featured upsets, comebacks, and plenty of terrible losses. Here are the three worst losses in college football over the second week of the 2017 season.
The cancellation of games featuring Florida schools in the approach of Hurricane Irma reduced the number of opportunities for terrible losses. But there were still a slew of upsets, as five Power Five teams fell to Group of Five opponents. We also saw several FCS schools take down Group of Five programs, and a near upset go up in flames.
It was a weekend that never seemed to want to end. Boise State and No. 20 Washington State capped the evening with a triple-overtime thriller in Pullman. Up 31-10 in the fourth quarter, the Broncos collapsed as the Cougars scored 21 unanswered points to force extra time. They played until well past 11:00 p.m. local time, as the two teams matched points in overtime.
The fact that Boise State coughed up a prime opportunity to take down a Pac-12 opponent. The Broncos are still in the Mountain West hunt, but a New Year’s Six berth will be a bit more difficult to snatch without this statement win.
It wasn’t one of the three worst losses of the week, but it was awfully close. We sifted through all the results of the weekend to pick these three schools for this week’s list. One name is familiar, but a few others help to expand the list outside the Lone Star State’s borders after Texas dominated the first edition of 2017.
