With Week 2 of the college football season in the books, let’s take a look at the New Year’s Six bowl projections for Week 3.

Week 2 of the college football season was supposed to give us the first shape shifting weekend of the season when it came to the college bowl picture and it did not disappoint. Teams like Stanford, Ohio State and Boise State either played their way down the bowl ladder or played their way out of it all together.

Meanwhile, we’ve got a new entrant into the playoff and the New Year’s Six projections. Let’s take a look.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: Ohio State (at-large) vs. Georgia (at-large)
Where: AT&T Stadium (Dallas, Texas)
When: Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
Last week’s projection: Oklahoma vs. Stanford

Oh. Hello, Georgia.

With the win over Notre Dame this past weekend Georgia is a new entrant into the Saturday Blitz New Year’s Six projections. At almost the same time Auburn, Stanford and Ohio State’s losses pushed the Bulldogs into the NY6, it’s almost like watching the projections in real time and when Saturday became Sunday, the Bulldogs were headed to Jerryworld.

As Ohio State faded away against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday night it was clear that this Ohio State team may have to to climb out of an even bigger hole than the one back in 2014 after a loss at home to Virginia Tech. With trips to Michigan, Nebraska and a home game against Penn State, the Buckeyes will have a chance to make up ground as the cannibalization of college football will continue but Saturday’s loss puts Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

Week 3 Impact: Georgia’s opponent on Saturday is another of the many Bulldogs, the Samford Bulldogs to be exact. Georgia should win that one and will not face a true test until they face Tennessee at the end of the month. Ohio State faces Army and will have a chance to atone for their poor performance against Oklahoma this past Saturday.
