5. Connor Wedington is Stanford’s best receiver

Stanford’s freshman wide receiver Connor Wedington had himself a better performance in Week 1 than he had in Week 2. Yet, really none of the Stanford receivers had a good performance against USC.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside led the Cardinal in receiving with four receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown. That was also the only touchdown catch by any Stanford wide receiver. No one has really stuck out yet in the receiving corps.

The primary target for quarterback Keller Chryst entering the season was tight end Dalton Schultz. However, as far as receivers go, Wedington could be the best on the roster by season’s end. Wedington had the second-most catches against USC.

It’ll be an ongoing process to see who the primary target for Chryst will be. Moving forward, Wedington could have the brightest future of any of these receivers. He has the potential to be an All-Pac-12 type talent.
