Stanford Football: 5 overreactions from loss to USC

3. Washington and USC are still the Pac-12’s best teams

Doubts started arising about the Washington Huskies after their Week 1 performance against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. However, junior quarterback Jake Browning responded well in Week 2 against the Montana Grizzlies out of the FCS.

USC also proved that they’re now on the right track after a concerning effort in Week 1. Head coach Clay Helton has this team trending in the right direction. Both USC and Washington look like the clear front-runners in the Pac-12.

Entering the season, the Huskies and Trojans were the two favorites to play in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The Washington State Cougars, Oregon Ducks, and UCLA Bruins have emerged as possible contenders as well.

Stanford looked to have a legitimate shot at upsetting USC. However, Darnold and the Trojans proved the college football world something this week. We still have yet to find any evidence that Washington and USC won’t play for the conference title this year.
