2. Gary Patterson is the best coach in the Big 12

This one will be met with a lot of grief I’m sure, but I won’t budge on it. What Coach Gary Patterson has done with TCU is astounding. The comeback the team mounted at the Alamo Bowl this past season was just phenomenal.

Many would say that Patterson ranks pretty high in the Big 12 coaching ranks, but I would put him up at the very top and here is why. Before Coach Patterson, not many people really remember much about TCU Football. He, along with strong players that he recruited, but that school on the map. He has mentored and worked hard with every player on that team to put on the best game they possibly can week in and week out.

They continue to get better and better and most importantly function as a unit, not just as a group of singular players trying to be the one true star. That is what makes TCU a good team this season and what has made them a great addition to the Big 12.

Patterson is the most successful coach TCU has ever seen and was signed recently to an extension that raised his salary to $4.7 million per year and pushes his contract to the year 2022. Good move by the Frogs to lock that guy up.
