Chris Warren is the best player on the Texas offense

I’m not sure this one is that much of an overreaction if we are being completely honest. Junior running back Chris Warren finished the game on Saturday with 166 yards and two touchdowns rushing as well as 23 yards receiving. He is now the go-to running back for the Longhorns and he sure flexed his muscles on Saturday.

The touchdown run, shown above, had a slight Zeke Elliot feel to it as Warren pushed his way into the endzone for his second score of the game. He had no problem taking the SJSU defense with him all the way to the endzone.

Sophomore running back Kyle Porter also rushed for 93 yards and a score of his own, but long-term I see Warren being the go-to guy for Tom Herman’s offense. With the shuffling of quarterbacks and the question marks on defense, the Longhorns need a veteran on the offense to help control what’s going on. Chris Warren could easily be that guy.

Of course, the question remains, was this offensive performance due to the lack of competition from San Jose State or is the Texas offense actually clicking on all cylinders just in time for a big matchup against USC over a decade in the making? Find out next week.
