Tom Herman could be the guy for Texas, but not this year

All we have heard all offseason is how Texas now had Tom Herman and that was going to be the difference maker for the Longhorns. However, so far, as shown on social media all over, it’s not off the hottest start. Special teams and defense question marks and an offense with a rotating door of quarterbacks does not normally equal a successful season.

Herman had a strong showing at Houston and Texas should be excited to have him. However, he had a few losses there too that many scratched their head at. Look for this season to be much of the same, the loss to Maryland proved that much. I could see losses to teams like Kansas State and maybe even West Virginia or Texas Tech this season for the Longhorns.

Only time will tell, but the Longhorns have a long way to go from the performance they put on the field against Maryland to national prominence. In short, is Texas back? I don’t think so. I see another 5-7 or 6-6 season in the Longhorn’s future.

That said, the future is bright. The Herman swagger and tendency to show up for big games will be put on full display when they take on Texas in Week 3.
