LSU football took care of business on Saturday against Chattanooga. However, sloppy mistakes hindered what could have been an even bigger night.

As expected, LSU tackled Chattanooga easily with a 45-10 win. The balance of the offense and the strength of defense allowed the Tigers to cruise to victory. However, bouts of sloppiness did hinder them from making this an even larger margin of victory. Those won’t fly as the competition gets tougher, especially as an SEC team.

The LSU Tigers are attempting to replace a pretty strong group of drafted players, most namely star running back Leonard Fournette who made his NFL debut on Sunday afternoon with the Jags. He finished with 100 rushing yards on 26 attempts and a touchdown, picking up right where he left off in purple and gold.

So far they’ve been pretty solid on defense and balanced on offense, something that could help them significantly moving forward into conference play. They face their first true test of the season against Mississippi State this Saturday. The Tigers have climbed to number 12 in the nation, but who knows where they’ll end up as the season progresses.

A lot has been talked about in the wake of LSU’s victory, but here are my five “overreactions” from the game and what is to come.
