The Iowa State Cyclones nearly got off to a 2-0 start last week while facing their in-state rival Iowa Hawkeyes. However, Iowa quarterback Nathan Stanley had himself a career week, throwing five touchdown passes to eventually defeat the Cyclones in overtime.

This week, Iowa State travels to Ohio to face the Akron Zips. Akron is a team that has not fared well so far against Power Five competition. They were dominated by the Penn State Nittany Lions a few weeks ago.

While Iowa State is not Penn State, they can certainly still put up some points. Quarterback Jacob Park could have a field day against the Akron defense. Moreover, the Clones will be looking to blow the Zips out of the water from the frustration left over from the result from the Iowa game.

In the end, this could be a huge victory for the Clones. They’re only a 10.5-point favorite but that could change before kickoff. Yet, if there is any lag from the heartbreaking loss from the week before, Akron might be able to jump on the opportunity.
