After defeating Arkansas in Week 2, TCU football will now turn their eyes to the SMU Mustangs in Week 3. Here are three bold predictions for the Horned Frogs.

After muddling through a hangover season following the graduation of longtime quarterback Trevone Boykin, the TCU Horned Frogs have put their 2016 losing season behind them and started the 2017 season off with a bang.

After starting the season unranked, TCU has climbed into the AP Poll after consecutive wins over Jackson State and SEC out-of-conference challengers Arkansas. In Week 3 of the 2017, Gary Paterson’s squad will face off against a new challenge in the form of in-state rival SMU.

Much like TCU, SMU runs a high-powered, vertical passing offense that produces big plays with multiple receiver sets. Led by sophomore signal-caller Ben Hicks and future NFL wide receiver Courtland Sutton, the Mustangs have outscored their first two opponents by a combined score of 112 to 46. They will bring their high-powered offense to Fort Worth, Texas to battle for the Iron Skillet in the two school’s 95th lifetime meeting.

If TCU wants to bring the Iron Skillet back to Fort Worth for the 17th time over the last 20 seasons, they will need to make a statement against their in-state rivals. Doing so in an impressive fashion will aid their continued rise toward the top of the AP Poll.

With all of that in mind, here are three things to watch in TCU’s Week 3 game against SMU.
