Baylor Football: 3 bold predictions against Duke

There’s not much consistency to be found in the Baylor football program right now as they enter their Week 3 meeting with the Duke Blue Devils.

The Baylor Bears have been one of the biggest disappointments not only in the Big 12 but in the entire country through the first two weeks of the 2017 season. The college football world has witnessed Baylor go winless through the first two games of one of the easiest non-conference schedules.

UTSA took down Baylor last week in a 17-10 upset. The week before, an FCS program, the Liberty Flames, downed Baylor at McLane Stadium, 48-45. It’s been a rough road for former Temple head coach Matt Rhule to get this program back on track.

Rhule is working with nearly a clean slate after all the controversy that hit Baylor over the offseason. He brought Temple among the best Group of Five programs and Baylor fans are hoping he can do the same with their football program in the Big 12.

This week, Baylor hits the road and travels to Durham, NC, to face the Duke Blue Devils. By far the toughest test for the Bears before conference play starts, Duke could end up dominating this game. The Blue Devils defeated the Northwestern Wildcats, 41-17, last week. They’re 14-point favorites in this matchup as well.

More than anything, Baylor needs to start heading in the right direction entering Big 12 play. While Rhule has done a great job cleaning up the program, fans need to see some progress on the field as well. That could start with competing with a good Duke team this weekend.
