On Saturday night in Starkville, red-hot LSU football takes the field in Week 3 against Mississippi State. Here are three bold predictions for the game.

We are heading into the start of the most exciting part of the college football season, conference play. An extremely physical matchup is brewing between the Bulldogs and the Tigers. This game is shaping up to  be a great one, with two seemingly strong teams coming together, however this game will show us who is for real. Is it Derrius Guice and the Tigers or Nick Fitzgerald and the Bulldogs?

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have jumped out to a 2-0 record, thought they haven’t played a team of note yet. They dismantled Charleston Southern 49-0 to open their season. They racked up 555 yards of offense on a near-perfect split between rushing and passing. Their defense held the Bucs to all of 33 yards and two first downs.

Against Louisiana Tech, despite a couple technical errors to start. they shut down the Bulldogs in the second half. Dominant? Yes. Impressive in terms of competition? No.

On the other side, you have the LSU Tigers. Similarly, they haven’t played anyone obnoxiously difficult, but they have been just as physically and possibly even more dominant. And they’ve done so without one of their best pass rushers, Arden Key. Key won’t play the entire game on Saturday as he isn’t back to full-game shape yet, but he will definitely be a huge contributor. They, like Mississippi State have a very balanced offensive attack. Derrius Guice, starting running back, is strong and physical, fighting for every possible yard.

This will be a dog fight to say the least. Here are my three bold predictions for Saturday’s showdown.
