NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 2
The term “freak” gets thrown around a lot during each NFL draft process, but this year’s “freak” actually lives up to that billing. Saquon Barkley is one of the most unique talents in recent memory and there’s no mystery as to why he’s considered the top running back prospect in 2018.
In fact, he stands 5-foot-11 and weighs about 225 pounds. That may sound like a guy who isn’t quite quick or doesn’t have breakaway speed or elusiveness, but don’t let the size fool you. Barkley is 225 pounds of pure muscle and he shows that each offseason with his workout routines that constantly make headlines.
Barkley is a future franchise running back and the Bills could use that especially since LeSean McCoy will be 30 by the time the 2018 season starts, making his remaining time in the NFL limited. It’s also possible the Bills don’t bring him back, making a running back a priority in 2018.
The junior from Penn State has had an impressive career thus far, rushing for over 1,000 yards as a freshman and nearly 1,500 as a sophomore. He’s already off to his best start yet as a junior, accounting for 290 yards and three touchdowns on 9.3 yards per touch in two games.
