Oklahoma football returns home to face the Tulane Green Wave in Week 3. Here’s all you need to know for the game.

The second-ranked Oklahoma football team returns home this week to face the Tulane Green Wave. The Oklahoma Sooners avenged their 45-24 defeat from 2016 with a 33-16 win this season.

At 2-0, the Sooners face the Green Wave who are 1-1 so far this year. The Sooners have enjoyed the brilliance of quarterback Bakey Mayfield but there’s also been the emergence of Dmitri Flowers and Jeff Badet in the passing game. Flowers had seven receptions for 98 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown against the Buckeyes. Badet caught five receptions for 82 receiving yards as well.

The defense is allowing 258.5 total yards of offense per game through two contests. They have allowed 11.5 points per game, 18th in the FBS.

The Tulane Green Wave are coming off a 23-21 loss to the Navy Midshipmen last week. They had seven penalties for 41 yards in the game. Other than that, they kept pace with the Midshipmen for most of the game before falling in the end. This week, their opponent gets a whole lot tougher in Oklahoma.

Keys to victory

OU has an opportunity to hold their place on atop the AP rankings for a while now. Baker Mayfield has completed 83.6 percent of his passes, second among FBS quarterbacks, while throwing for six passing touchdowns and no interceptions.

He hopes to get tight end Mark Andrews back this week to add to his arsenal of offensive weapons. Look for Mayfield to continue to torch secondaries on his way to the College Football Playoff field. Running back Trey Sermon should get his fair share of carries again, with an added focus on ball security.

Prediction

It’s the first-ever meeting between these two teams and the crowd noise and emotions of the game could get to Tulane very early. The Sooners football team is sure to play fired up after winning in impressive fashion on the road last week. The return home should have a much larger margin of victory.

Mayfield should throw for over 300 passing yards while Flowers, Badet or Andrews should all have big games.

Final Score: Oklahoma 52, Tulane 7
