2. The Gators’ offense finds the endzone for the first time

As we already know, Jim McElwain and his Gators are on still on the prowl for their first trip to the end zone on an offensive drive. To be fair to Gator fans, however, had Hurricane Irma not been hitting the state, I am sure they would have found a way to get the elusive first touchdown of the season against Northern Colorado.

This bold prediction isn’t based on anything other than probability. At some point, the Gators have to capitalize on a drive and finish with six. With what little data sample we have from their game against Michigan, maybe I should start with that they will convert more than 2-of-13 third downs.

This stat alone puts Florida at 127th in the country at converting third downs. That puts them above three other schools in the entire country, which are Middle Tennessee, South Alabama and Coastal Carolina. I’m already starting to feel less confident about this prediction.

As bad as they’ve been, I have faith in you, Gators. Well, allow me to clarify, I faith in probability and if Indiana State could score on the Vols, then surely they’ll find a way to as well. So then if the Gators’ defense gets two touchdowns and the offense lucks their way to one, will that be enough to beat Tennessee?
