1. Tennessee wins big in The Swamp

At the point I am writing this, the current spread is in favor of Florida by 4.5 points. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives Florida a 62.2 percent chance to beat the Vols in Gainesville. Football is a game of matchups so let’s take a brief look at whats at play here.

Although Florida’s defense is better at scoring, both teams are almost dead even with Florida taking the 94th spot nationally and Tennessee at 95th. Tennessee, however, opened against Georgia Tech who’s triple option is a nightmare to slow down and nearly impossible to stop.

Although they rank closely, I am going to have to say I trust Tennessee a bit more to be able to line up with a pro style team and find success on defense. Not a lot more but certainly enough in this situation.

On offense, I’m looking at what Michigan did the week after they held Florida’s offense to zero points. In week two the Wolverines offense took on Cincinnati and gave up 14 points. This, in my opinion, is fairly damning for the Gators, which leads me to the last prediction.

There’s no doubt about this one for me. I am undoubtedly taking Tennessee to beat Florida but not in a hairline finish. My final bold prediction for this game is Tennessee goes to the Swamp Gator hunting and comes out with a three-touchdown victory.
