Baylor Football: 5 reasons the Bears will beat Duke in Week 3
Baylor football needs a victory almost more than any other FBS team in the country after their disappointing 0-2 start.
The Baylor Bears travel to Durham, N.C., this weekend to face the Duke Blue Devils. Each team in this matchup is headed in an opposite direction as Baylor is trying to recover from a controversial offseason and Duke got off to a better than expected start this year.
Baylor sits at 0-2 with losses to the UTSA Roadrunners and Liberty Flames, out of the FCS. Head coach Matt Rhule did not get off to the start he wanted. Even with all the turnover seen in the Baylor football program recently, few expected this type of a start.
Meanwhile, Duke took care of business without a problem in their first two contests. There was nothing unusual about a program like Duke defeating NC Central. However, what they did against the Northwestern Wildcats was thoroughly impressive. Duke defeated Northwestern 41-17 in a dominant effort against a solid Big Ten program.
Injuries and inexperience have caused this rough start for the Bears. Their two best running backs, Terrence Williams and JaMychal Hasty, have each missed significant time due to injury. That put freshman running back John Lovett in position to start last week and lead Baylor in rushing up to this point.
The offensive line has not help up very well either. Even for a dual threat quarterback like former Arizona transfer Anu Solomon, they could not keep him protected for very long. Considering UTSA does not have the most daunting pass rush in the country. Baylor will face much worse this year. Yet, this is a great chance for the Bears to start changing their national image.
Now, let’s take a look at five reasons the Baylor Bears will defeat the Duke Blue Devils in Week 3.
