Week 2 of the college football season is in the books and it’s time to look at five bold predictions for Week 3.

Thank you for coming back again for the college football bold predictions. If you missed the Week 1 predictions, you will find I was 3-for-5. I challenge you to find another place you can find 60 percent accuracy or better on “bold predictions”.

Week 3 only gives us two ranked matchups (Tennessee vs. Florida and Clemson vs. Louisville),  and one truly compelling matchup (Texas vs. USC), but I still found boldness and drama for you. Enjoy your Week 3 of college football and make sure to credit me for all the things I’m right about. It’s always Wrighster, never wrong!

5. Tennessee wins two in a row versus Florida

Until Sept. 24, 2016, the Tennessee Volunteers hadn’t beat the Florida Gators in football since Sept. 18, 2004. That is an extremely long time for a program that used to be considered a powerhouse. As a result, the Tennessee brand has suffered. However, the tables have turned and Volunteers will follow up their 38-28 win over the Gators last season with a win this weekend. Two in a row!

I have stated, in no uncertain terms, that I believe Florida is one of the five most overrated teams of 2017. The reason I labeled the Gators overrated is the same reason they will lose this football game. Jim McElwain’s offense has been awful since he got to Florida. The Gators have cycled through quarterback with little success, and have failed to crack the top 100 in scoring in the last two seasons.

There are only two reasons Florida even stands a chance in this game, weather and defense. The forecast is high 80s with rain expected Thursday through Sunday. The field should be nasty and the ball heavy and slippery which prevents much passing. I liked the offensive explosiveness I saw from Tennessee in week one against Georgia Tech. However, the Gators are extremely talented on defense, and will be stingy in the bad weather.

Tennessee wins 19-13.
