1. Notre Dame holds the Eagles to less than ten points

A solid Notre Dame defense facing off against a struggling Boston College offense may be just what the doctor ordered for an Irish team coming off such a bitter defeat. The Eagles had a very hard time putting up anything against a decent Wake Forest defense and should have an even tougher time against a stout Irish front.

It’s never easy to go into a game with the plan of limiting an offense to under ten points, but this may be a goal the Irish see as fairly feasible. After holding a Georgia offense with one of the best rushing attacks in the country to 20 points, the Irish might be able to cut that number in half when they take on the struggling Eagles.

Eagles quarterback Anthony Brown has yet to throw for over 200 yards this season and is not much of a threat in the run game. Boston College has also struggled to develop a strong run game, with both AJ Dillon and Jon Hillman struggling to get things going up to this point.

If the Irish manage to keep things simple and make Boston College as one-dimensional as possible, there is certainly the chance that they pull off this difficult feat. It will be the first time in nearly a year that the Irish would have allowed ten points or less in a contest AND won (the Irish limited N.C. State to only ten points last October, but managed only three points themselves).

Clearly, this is a team that feeds off of its own success. If the offense can hold its own and the defense can force a turnover or two, don’t be surprised if this game gets away from the Eagles early.

With the Irish looking for revenge after a poor offensive outing a week ago, the Eagles appear to be the unlucky recipients in their paths. Anything can happen, of course, but it looks as if the Irish will be using this game as a rebound before they take to Michigan state in a couple of weeks.

Whether it be sacks, offensive efficiency, or a dominant defense, look for this to be an exciting matchup despite the potential for a blowout. Boston College usually gives Notre Dame a fight regardless of current standing, and there is no reason to believe this weekend will be any different.
