Ole Miss Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Cal in Week 3
3. Patterson reaches 1,000 yards on season in first five minutes
Shea Patterson only needs 82 passing yards to reach the 1,000 passing yard mark this year. It did not take long for Patterson to establish himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. He’s also one of the best young quarterbacks in the country.
Patterson has first round NFL Draft pick in 2019 or 2020 written all over him. However, he needs a solid follow through for the rest of the season to prove this breakout is for real. Sophomore wide receiver A.J. Brown has helped him out along the way.

Brown has caught 16 passes for 389 yards and four touchdowns through only two games. He leads the country in receiving yards and Patterson is tied for the lead in passing touchdowns. They’re a dynamic duo that might not be slowed down by any team.
Both Cal and Ole Miss can put up points in bunches which means a large opportunity for Patterson to have another big game. With how limited the production from the ground game has been, head coach Matt Luke will put the bulk of the early offensive load on Patterson’s shoulders.
