Texas A&M football hosts the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in a Week 3 bout, but it won’t be a walk in the park for the Aggies.

It’s been a rough start to the season for Texas A&M football. Not only did the Aggies blow a 34-point second-half lead against UCLA in one of the most dramatic comebacks in recent memory, but they also struggled against Nicholls State in Week 2.

The program seems to be trending in the wrong direction with Kevin Sumlin’s seat heating up, but there are some who still believe this team can compete in the SEC. However, they will have to make some major changes before that can happen.

There’s no doubting the talent on the roster, but the confidence of this team seems to be shot. Nicholls State was supposed to be the shot in the arm this team needed moving forward, but it only hurt the Aggies.

Let’s take a look at why a UL-Lafayette — also known as just “Louisiana” now, apparently — will put the Aggies on upset alert once again in Week 3.

5. Defense will struggle with Jordan Davis, run game

Jordan Davis isn’t exactly a household name. The junior quarterback for Louisiana is a guy who has just taken over as the full-time starter this year and is playing well despite a 1-1 start. He’s looking to lead Louisiana back to a bowl game.

Texas A&M won’t know how to defend the dual-threat. The struggled with FCS quarterback Chase Fourcade last week who passed for over 250 yards and a touchdown. He was held in check on the ground, rushing nine time for 15 yards, but Davis is a much bigger threat to go off.

Through two games, Davis has 108 rushing yards and two scores along with 471 passing yards and three touchdowns. Against a defense that’s been reeling lately, Davis could have a big game, especially with two strong runners behind him.

The Aggies could struggle with explosive freshmen Trey Ragas (12.7 yards per carry) who has 191 yards and two touchdowns and Elijah Mitchell (7.4 yards per carry) who has racked up 140 yards and two scores.
