4. Kevin Sumlin is feeling his seat get warmer by the week

There’s something to be said about a head coach rubbing off on his players. If the coach knows his job is on the line, his players are likely to feel the pressure increasing as well. Kevin Sumlin’s seat is about as warm as anyone’s in the SEC, along with his next SEC opponent Bret Bielema, and it’s shown in the first two weeks of the year.

If this game is close at halftime, you might be hearing some “Fire Sumlin” chants or even seeing the players themselves check out. Aggie fans are some of the most passionate in all of sports and they expect nothing but the best from the football program, so a lackluster first-half performance could be a nightmare for the guys on the field.

You can bet they’ve been hearing all week how bad they are and how they should have crushed Nicholls State but laid an egg, but that talk has a negative effect on a team. They know their head coach is in danger of losing his job and it’s starting to wear on the team’s confidence.

It may not seem like a big deal heading into a battle with Louisiana-Lafayette, but the fact that Sumlin’s seat is heating up could be a driving force as to why the Aggies will be on upset alert here.
