1. Quarterback situation is a mess

Whoa. Another week, another injury. Texas A&M’s quarterback situation just hasn’t been the same since the great Johnny Manziel was running the show. Sure, Trevor Knight was a nice hold-over, but he was never close to the Manziel standard.

The 2017 season has been much of the same — and it’s only been two weeks. The Aggies have had a rough go of things early on.

They’ve already lost their leader in quarterback Jake Hubenak for this week as well as first-year starter Nick Starkel for the year, so who will be the calming force in the huddle? Kellen Mond got the start against Nicholls State and didn’t play all that well. He completed just 12-of-21 passes for 105 yards and a score and didn’t showcase his dual-threat ability.

Losing Hubenak this week with an undisclosed injury will surely hurt, but Mond will have to step up. His confidence has to be shaken at this point seeing as his coach has already decided against starting him, but is forced to now that Hubenak is out.

Down to their third quarterback with a walk-on as the backup, the Texas A&M quarterback situation may be the driving force in a Louisiana upset bid.
