USC football and Texas square off in their first meeting since the legendary 2006 Rose Bowl. Here’s are 3 bold predictions for the Week 3 showdown.

It has now been over a decade since Vince Young scored the winning touchdown in a 41-38 victory over USC at the Rose Bowl for the BCS national championship. The Trojans and Longhorns have not met since that game, leaving no opportunity for Southern California to get revenge for that loss.

A new group of Trojans finally gets that opportunity this weekend, as Tom Herman brings the Longhorns west to Los Angeles. USC is coming off a statement win over Stanford, as the Trojans knocked off the Cardinal 42-24 for their first Pac-12 victory of the year. Meanwhile, Texas rebounded from its season-opening 51-41 loss to Maryland to shut out San Jose State 56-0 in Week 2.

Though Texas already has a loss on its record, they cannot be discounted when they face No. 4 Southern California on the road. Uncertainty at quarterback is mitigated by a strong running game, and the defense will come to California more confident in its ability to shut down opponents after pitching the shutout against the Spartans.

Who will prevail in the long-overdue rematch between USC and Texas? Click ahead for three bold predictions about how things will shake out when the Trojans square off against the Longhorns on Saturday evening.
