1. Texas will challenge the Trojans as they beat the point spread

USC enters their third straight home game as the No. 4 team in the nation. The oddsmakers have positioned the Trojans as a 15.5-point favorite for Saturday’s showdown at the Coliseum after they won their first two games by 18 points each time. But that number will likely be too high, as Texas challenges the USC defense.

The Trojans are going to win to move to 3-0 on the season. But they will have a much harder time than the spread would indicate. Look for Texas to make Clay Helton and his staff sweat out another contest. The game will remain close into the fourth quarter. As a result, Southern California is going to be trapped in another shootout.

The offense will dig USC out of any threat of an upset, but they will give up at least four touchdowns to make it more difficult than necessary. While the Trojans secondary will make life difficult for whichever quarterback starts for the Longhorns, Texas will challenge USC in the trenches and keep their offense moving downfield on the ground.

Look for this one to end somewhere in the 38-30 range as Texas manages to beat the spread. The Trojans giving too many points at home, especially the way they have played in the first two contests of the year. This one will come down to the wire yet again as USC offers up another nail-biting performance for their fans.
