Alabama Football: 3 takeaways from the Tide’s win over Colorado State
Nick Saban’s steamroller, the Alabama football program, just keeps on rolling over opponents. It beat the Rams 41-23 in a game that never felt close, even when it was.
The Alabama Crimson Tide, the S&P+’s top-rated team, beat up on the Colorado State Rams Saturday night. The Rams came into the contest ranked 42nd overall and showed the difference between an average program having a good year and the elite powerhouse of college football over the past decade.
The Tide offense now ran by Brian Daboll has adopted itself what many call ‘the college football offense.’ That means you’re going to see spread concepts, the pistol alignment, inside zone read and occasional RPOs or Run Pass Options.

Colorado State quarterback Nick Stevens is an NFL-quality passer and finished 21-of-38 for 6.5 yards per attempt with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Rams ran for 144 and Stevens picked up 26 of them and a touchdown. Bama kept a balanced offense throwing for 248 yards and running for 239 yards throwing for two touchdowns and running for three total.
By the end of the game, the Tide looked like a final four team we all predicted they would be. Here are my three takeaways from the Bama beating of the Rams.
