The Nebraska Cornhuskers underwent the biggest upset of the early afternoon games. Nebraska fell short to the Northern Illinois Huskies by four points. Losing to Northern Illinois at home is not acceptable to the Nebraska fan base.

Head coach Mike Riley was brought over from Oregon State three years ago after the firing of former head coach Bo Pelini. Riley has not looked much better, if not worse, than Pelini did during his tenure in Lincoln.

The fact that Nebraska finished their non-conference slate with a 1-2 means they might not even make a bowl game this year. However, their Big 10 opener against the Illinois Fighting Illini will tell a lot about where this program is at.

Tulane transfer quarterback Tanner Lee could ultimately put Riley officially on the hot seat. Lee had a brutal game and is showing to be turnover prone in every game. Nebraska was looking better in the second half against Oregon last week and it’s now all for not.
