3. John Kelly is Tennessee’s best player

Even with all the great athletes on the Florida defense, junior running back John Kelly made them look pretty slow. After the injury to star receiver Jauan Jennings, Kelly immediately became the alpha on the Tennessee offense.

Kelly did not do enough for Tennessee to win the game. Three missed field goals and trouble in the red zone cost the Vols. If they had come away with the win, Kelly would have been to thank since he led Tennessee to their only two touchdowns of the game in the fourth quarter.

Leading the Vols in both rushing and receiving yards, Kelly finished with nearly 250 yards and one touchdown. Tight end Ethan Wolf caught the only touchdown pass thrown by Quinten Dormady. Yet, Kelly makes it so much easier for Dormady to run this offense.

Moving forward, opposition will have to respect Kelly’s ability almost more than anyone on the offense. Dormady has some good options in the receiving corps like Marquez Callaway, Ethan Wolf, and Josh Palmer, but none better than Kelly.
