Oklahoma football thundered back from a slow start to roll Tulane 49-14 in Week 3 and improve to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

For a little bit it looked like the Oklahoma Sooners might be suffering from a bit of post-victory fatigue. A week removed from a dominant win over a top 10 team might have diverted the focus of the Sooners.

Tulane took advantage of any distractions and pounded the ball on the ground fairly successfully through the first quarter. Tulane used a 8-play 65 yard drive and a 9-play 75 yard drive to take a 14-7 lead over the Sooners who had fumbled away their first possession.

That advantage proved to be short-lived as Oklahoma would win this game in dominant fashion. Whatever sleepwalking had occurred by the defense in the first quarter was erased as Oklahoma took care of business, downing Tulane 56-14 in Week 3.

There were a lot of statistics put up by Okahoma on Saturday. They won the turnover battle 2:1. Oklahoma outgained Tulane 631 yards to 291 yards. That’s all well and good, but these three statistics best capture what was another impressive win for Oklahoma football.
