37:07 – Time of possession for Tulane

It’s going to be a continued pattern of trial an error for Oklahoma opponents in 2017. Each one is going to have their own gameplan for beating the Sooners. On Saturday we learned that controlling the clock and attempting to keep Oklahoma off the field is not the answer.

Oklahoma had scoring drives of 81 yards, 75 yards, 95 yards, 70 yards, 41 yards and 98 yards. The longest drive on the clock? 2:59. That was the 95 yard drive that extended the Oklahoma lead to 28-14. The Sooners moved the ball 75 yards or more in less than three minutes four times against Tulane.

You can’t take a play off against Oklahoma. If you do they’re going to exploit that misstep and take the ball to the house.

That’s a testimony to the preparedness of new Sooner head coach Lincoln Riley as well as the poise and talent of Baker Mayfield. Both men know exactly what they want the offense to do when it takes the field. There aren’t any junk plays. Every play has a purpose, and that makes the Sooners a dangerous team every time they snap the ball.
