3. The Pittsburgh Panthers are in for a long season

Another week, another loss for the Pittsburgh Panthers and it wasn’t even close. The Panthers gave up 21 points in the first quarter and didn’t score a point until they trailed 35-0.

Quarterback Max Browne had another dud of a performance, although he did start the game 7-of-10 with 60 passing yards. He was eventually benched in the second quarter.

Head coach Pat Narduzzi quickly substituted quarterback Ben DiNucci into the game but he didn’t fare much better. DiNucci had 228 passing yards and a touchdown pass but also two interceptions, which came on back-to-back series.

The Panthers passing defense was atrocious as well. They allowed at least 100 receiving yards to four different players on the Oklahoma State football team. They allowed 572 passing yards and five receiving touchdowns as a unit. It makes for an interesting outlook as the Panthers approach their ACC schedule.

As the college football landscape becomes more pass-happy, it doesn’t bode well for Narduzzi and company. Luckily, they get back safety Jordan Whitehead soon, they could certainly use him.
