A+. . DB. Texas A&M. DEFENSIVE BACKS

The run that the Aggies made in the second half was sparked by three combined interceptions from Armani Watts and Tyrel Dodson. Watts intercepted two of the passes and Dodson picked off the other one.

Dodson’s interception was returned 40-yard return for a touchdown. Ultimately, it was the secondary that sealed the win for the Aggies. When they went on the 31-point run in the second half, the secondary went into lock down mode.

We need to see this level of play from the Aggie secondary moving forward. They held the ULL passing game to only two touchdowns. Any time you can intercept more passes than you allow passing touchdowns, something was done right.

In total, ULL threw for 216 yards and averaged less than 5.0 yards per attempt. This was a dominant effort by the Texas A&M defensive backs and it’s a good sign for Sumlin. Watts and Dodson could be two of their defensive leaders for the rest of the year.
