Texas football is locked in a wild rematch with the USC Trojans. In a game with plenty of wow plays, this last score might have been the decider.

In case you haven’t heard yet, Texas and USC played a few years back in an especially memorable Rose Bowl. The Longhorns won that game, but it was vacated because of the sanctions placed on the Trojans after the Reggie Bush situation.

The 2017 game marks the first rematch of these two storied programs since that wild Rose Bowl game. It’s more than lived up to the hype. USC led 7-0 in the waning moments of the first half when Trojan quarterback Sam Darnold was picked off by DeShon Elliott and returned for the equalizing score.

As if that wasn’t enough fireworks, the Trojans returned the blow with a touchdown of their own. USC took over with 19 seconds left on the clock and drove the length of the field in two plays, capped off by a 56 yard touchdown pass from Darnold to running back Ronald Jones II.

And that was all in the first half. The second half has continued to be just as entertaining, albeit with less touchdowns. That is, until the one that put the Longhorns ahead with less than a minute remaining.

While the Trojans undoubtedly have the better resume thus far, Tom Herman has never lost a game to a ranked opponent in his head coaching career. The Trojans were 17 point favorites over the Longhorns at kickoff. It’s looking like the game is going to be a lot closer than that. No matter what happens, it’s going to be exciting.
